This is a tasty way of using up some leftover turkey meat, or any meat you’ve had over Christmas! If you have any of the filling mixture left over, you can roll into balls and bake them at the same time, or you could freeze and use when you have some leftover pastry in the future!
Sausage Star Puffs
Sausage Star Puffs
Ingredients
- 375g sausage meat
- 150g leftover turkey meat, diced
- ½ red onion, finely diced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 apple, peeled, cored and diced
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Ready-rolled puff pastry sheet
- 1 small egg, whisked
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 190°C and grease or line a baking tray with baking paper
In a large bowl, mix together the sausage meat, turkey, onion, carrot, apple and garam masala
Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it in half lengthways - then cut each long strip into three so that you have 6 squares
Arrange each of the pastry squares onto the baking tray
Spoon balls of the mixture into each of the squares
Bring each of the four corners of the pastry squares up and over the filling and pinch them together at the top – then pinch each of the new four points created to help seal them, but leave the rest of the edges so that steam can escape
Brush the whisked egg over each of the puffs
Bake your Sausage Star Puffs in the oven for 30 minutes, or until the pastry has become golden brown
Serve once cooled, but slightly warm. Please ensure that you check the temperature of the filling before serving to your baby as the middle will retain heat.
