Easy Slow Cooked Beef

I have had lots of requests for more slow cooker meals, especially from mums who want to prepare dinner before they leave for work. Therefore, I’m going to use my slow cooker as much a possible over the next few months and share as many recipes as I can, if I have enough inspiration I will put them in book format for you too.

Easy Slow Cooked Beef

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 8-10 hours
Yields: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 onions, sliced
  • 3 ½ pounds stewing beef
  • 300ml low salt beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoons low salt soya sauce
  • 6 teaspoons minced garlic
  • Cornflour (optional)
  • Mashed potato or rice to serve (optional suggestions)

Method

  1. In a frying pan, heat the oil over a medium heat and fry the onions for 10 minutes until soft — reserve
  2. In the same pan, fry the beef for 3 minutes on each side before placing into your slow cooker
  3. Spoon the onions from Step 1 over the beef
  4. In a jug, mix together the stock, Worcestershire sauce, soya sauce and garlic and then pour it over the beef – cover with the lid
  5. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, until the beef is so tender it falls apart
  6. If the gravy is too runny for your liking, you can use cornflour to thicken it to your desired consistency
  7. Serve once cooled with mashed potato or rice.
